Don't stare at the screen. Make something even if there is nothing.
Wise words. I find myself staring at the screen a lot. In fact, I'm doing it right now and I haven't noticed. Part of the struggle for me is the fear of making something terrible. It's like perfectionism to the extreme. I can't fix what I haven't even made yet.
Tell me what music or genre you are trying to do atm? Maybe I can help you get inspiration and motivation.
I'm currently working on some orchestral songs similar to this: https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/770541
Mainly something calming and cinematic. You know, something you would hear in a fantasy themed video game or movie.
Are you familiar with Thomas Newman stuff? Something like this.

Hey, thanks! I'm going through the list right now. I haven't heard of Thomas Newman, and I'm glad you showed me! Very powerful stuff. Thanks again! :)

I try to focus on the end product. It's hard getting started!

Hey, thanks for sharing. :)
Getting started is really hard. I have that struggle way too often. When this happens, I ask myself why it's so hard. Most of the time for me it's one or more of three things: ideas, motivation, and/or time. Once I find out what's holding me back, I start making steps to fix it.
